One Percent Solution - 4th Update

Objective: Lose 1% of total weight every 2-week period.

January 3 weight: 263.8 pounds
January 17 weigh-in: 260.6 pounds (-1.2%)
January 31 weigh-in: 258.8 pounds (-0.7%)
February 14 weigh-in: 254.0 pounds (-1.9%)

Target weight for February 28: 251.5 pounds

Actual weight for February 28: 250.4 pounds
           Actual weight loss: 3.6 pounds (-1.4%)


Total weight loss to date: 13.4 pounds (-5.1%)


Target weight for March 14: 247.9 pounds


For reference, the last time my weight was below 250 pounds was 2006, and the last time I was less than 248 was in 2002. Yesterday I bought a pair of "stretch goal" pants. Currently I wear 42" waist pants. These are 40". I can button them but they are a bit snug. Another 5 or so pounds in the right places and they should fit much more comfortably.

All four of my grandparents died either directly or indirectly from heart disease.

10 years ago I lost my father to the same cause.

A former co-worker, someone I'd worked with for almost 10 years, was similarly taken less than 6 months ago.


Heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases claim more than 865,000 American lives a year.

In this economy, charities are finding it harder and harder to raise money. For the American Heart Association, this means dozens of potentially life-saving research projects are delayed or canceled because the funds aren't there to support them.

You can help.

On March 27 in Columbia, the American Heart Association is holding its annual 5K Heart Walk. If you click here it will take you to my team page. Please consider walking with us. If I can get a team of 20 people each raising $100, that's a good chunk of money to support research or other programs to educate people about healthy habits and avoiding risks. This is my 4th year as a team captain, and my teams have raised over $5,000 so far. I'd love to boost that number to at least $7,500 but need your help to do it.

Now if I can only survive Vaentine's Day dinner tonight and the movies this afternoon I'll be okay...
